Squash

A very hot day, close to 100 degrees. I planted several areas with squash this morning. 

Old Woman

I watched an old woman eat ice cream

She caresses each bite

As if it were her last.

She did not know I was there

Standing outside her kitchen window

Late in the evening

She ate from the carton

Glancing out the window

Looking into the dark
